The William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI) places a high value upon training the next generation of researchers. It is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry – one of the top 10 multi-faculty research institutions in the UK (REF 2014).
Their primary research focus and excellence lies in their cardiovascular, inflammation and endocrine research themes. In addition, they achieve international excellence in critical care and perioperative medicine research. They aim to combine talents from different disciplines such as genomics, cell biology, and pharmacology, with translational bench-to-patient studies and large-scale clinical trials.

Teaching
The Postgraduate Diploma comprises of eight modules, delivered over four semesters.
You will experience a variety of teaching and learning methods including seminars, podcasts and guided reading exercises, with regular face-to-face tutorials in which various individual and group activities will help you to consolidate your learning.

Entry Requirements
Eligibility
- A Medical or Dental degree (non-UK medical degrees marked on a grading scale must be equivalent to UK 2:2 degree)
- One year experience working in a hospital or outpatient clinic setting as a health professional is essential
- Applicants should attain a minimum IELTS band score of 6

- Enhance awareness of the basic sciences and research techniques underpinning endocrinology and diabetes including literature searches, reviewing evidence, critical appraisal of scientific literature, use of databases, writing papers and articles and correct application of statistics
- Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the clinical sciences relevant to specialist clinical practice in endocrinology and diabetes
- In-depth knowledge of common and important disorders in endocrinology and diabetes at a level appropriate to underpin clinical experience and support independent practice
- Nurture adept problem-solving skills which will enable independent practice as a specialist
- Gain professional competencies of medical graduates in allied areas to understand the pathophysiology, investigation and management of endocrine disorders
